The Anglican Church of St. Luke's is in the town of Augathella, an hours drive north from Charleville. The first St. Luke's Church was built in the early 1900's. The new church was opened in 1957, after fund raising activities were held over a period of time to find the £8300 needed for the building. The dedication of the new church was held on a Saturday with the service being conducted by Archbishop Halse in front of a large congregation.

Reflections

The first St. Luke's was eventually replaced with the present day church in 1957. During the time of the early church many people worshipped there and the sacraments were administered by the Bush Brothers. Augathella was at that time a larger town than it is today, but the church continues with enthusiasm, even though numbers are smaller. Services are held once a month, when the sacrament of Holy Communion is celebrated.
