The Sisters of The Sacred Advent were very much involved with the establishment and running of the Hostel Much fine work was also done toward the establishment of the Hostel by concerned and committed town and country people in the area, associated with the Parish,or as members of the extended community. |

| The history of the Hostel also included much fine work done by the Bush Brotherhood, and the Sisters of The Sacred Advent. These committed and totally dedicated people were the backbone of the whole Parish as well for many years, and indeed the Parish exists as it does because of their selflessness and hard work. |

Earlier history of the Anglican Parish of Charleville began with the establishment of the town itself. Today as we travel in air-conditioned cars, along bitumen or secondary roads, it is sometimes good to think back to those men who travelled around the Parish on horseback. Sometimes with a buggy if the trip was over an extended period of time, then later in primitive "trucks" as time moved on.During the time in which the Brothers were based in Charleville, the area they served extended from the Western boundaries of the State to Miles. |

The Brothers would stay on the properties they visited, after attending to the spiritual needs of their parishoners, until it was time to move to the next job at hand, be it a baptism, burial or just a visit. Often these visits and stays were over quickly, as they had to cover a wide area, and see as many people as they could on each trip. Apart from these duties, the Brothers also ran the Church in town, looking after the spiritual needs of all who came.. This responsiblity was to continue up until 1958. During the time of the Brothers the first Churches were built. Photos of these can be viewed at other places on this website. In Charleville itself, the building of the present All Saints Church was overseen by the Brothers, with the laying of the Foundation Stone taking place in July,1957. All Saints War Memorial Anglican Church was Dedicated by The Most Reverend R.C. Halse, M.A., D.D., K.C.B.E. on 16th March, 1958. The Head of the Bush Brotherhood at this time was the Reverend J.S.Dunkerly, M.A The first Priest after the departure of the Brothers was Father T.H.H.Hood, who had also served time in the Parish with the Brothers. |
The original Anglican Church Hall, built in 1910, was used by the Church and the community for a wide range of functions and events until it was necessary to demolish it in 1991.
The Sisters of the Sacred Advent were inspirational in their work and leadership for many years. |
